Description
Arianna Occhipinti Frappato di Vittoria Contrada Pettineo 2021 is an elegant Sicilian red wine, an authentic expression of the local territory and winemaking tradition. Produced using natural methods, it is made 100% from Frappato di Vittoria grapes, sourced from the Sicily region.
The soil where the vines grow is characterized by a layer of marine-origin sand, with a slight presence of calcareous pebbles, giving the wine a distinctive mineral imprint. The vinification process involves spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in cement vats, followed by maceration on the skins for 30 days. The aging continues for 14 months in lightly toasted Slavonian oak barrels and is completed with an additional month in the bottle.
Frappato di Vittoria Contrada Pettineo 2021 presents a deep ruby red color and releases intense aromas of flowers such as red rose and iris, accompanied by notes of red fruit, plum, spices, aromatic herbs, and a delicate hint of tobacco. On the palate, it offers a rich and structured sip, balanced by surprising freshness and a mineral finish that enhances its elegance and liveliness. This wine is ideal for those seeking a refined and authentic sensory experience, encapsulating the essence of Sicily in every glass.
Arianna Occhipinti is a young winemaker who launched her first vintage in 2004 at the age of 21. A cult figure in the biodynamic movement, Arianna tends 14 hectares of olive groves and 5 hectares of vineyards in the lands around Vittoria, in southeastern Sicily. Occhipinti has built her reputation on Frappato, a secondary grape in Sicily usually used to brighten the heavy Nero D’Avola. With tenacity and determination, Arianna has shown that Frappato can achieve great results even on its own.
