Description
Arianna Occhipinti Frappato di Vittoria Contrada Bombolieri 2020 comes from a vineyard located on a very calcareous hill overlooking the Serra San Bartolo. Here the soil varies from light brown to white, but the layer of sand on the surface is quite thin, measuring only 25 cm. Just below are rugged limestone rocks. A portion of the territory has a more clayey and calcareous soil, which appears white on the surface. And it is right here, in the Vigna Strada, that this wine with floral notes, direct flavor and pronounced acidity is produced. Arianna Occhipinti is a young winemaker who launched her first vintage in 2004 at the age of 21. A cult figure of the biodynamic movement, Arianna tends 14 hectares of olive groves and 5 hectares of vineyards in the land around Vittoria, in southeastern Sicily. Occhipinti built her reputation on Frappato, a secondary grape in Sicily usually used to spice up the heavy Nero D’Avola. Arianna, with tenacity and stubbornness, has shown that Frappato can give great results even in purity.
