Description
Antonio Camillo’s ‘Principio’ is a limpid and authentic Ciliegiolo, aged for 6 months in concrete. The bouquet is concentrated on cherry with a balsamic finish, while the sip is characterized by freshness and juiciness, with a finish that closes with a nice tannic progression that keeps the drink very pleasant
“For 15 years I have been walking through the vineyards of the Maremma and producing wines in some of the best wineries in the area. It was a period in which I grew professionally and in which I developed the ambition to make wines with my name and my character. The area I chose is my homeland, where I was born and raised, the area of the “high” Maremma, near the towns of Manciano. It is a very Maremma area, but at the same time very different from the coastal strip and also from the innermost area of Morellino di Scansano. I strongly believe that in these localities we can make wines that can speak of their terroir and that are easily recognizable for their character and their class, and I want to prove it ” . Antonio Camillo
In 2011 Antonio Camillo purchased two vineyards for a total of 5 hectares in the area between Sovana and Pitigliano on the border with Lazio. Now it is up to 9 hectares and the vineyards are located in various locations, for different soils and climates. They are planted only with varieties traditionally present in Maremma: Vermentino, Trebbiano, Ansonica, Malvasia, Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo and Alicante. The wines are vegan.
