Description

The Bourgogne Rouge “Cuvée du Pinson” by Domaine Ponsot shows intense notes of red fruits and spices in the background to the nose. In the mouth it is direct, concentrated and juicy, where a great variety of fruity notes are sweetened by an interesting freshness and ripe tannins. Explosive and refined finish.

The history of the Domaine Ponsot begins in 1872 when William Ponsot bought a wine estate in Morey-Saint-Denis and established his home there. Its main parcels of land at that time were the Clos des Monts-Luisants and the Clos de la Roche. His grandson and godson, Hippolyte Ponsot, took over the domaine in 1920 and in 1932 began bottling his entire crop at the domaine, a rarity for the time. Eventually the estate passed to Hippolyte’s son Jean-Marie, and later to Jean-Marie’s sons Laurent and Rose-Marie.

Today, Rose-Marie Ponsot is the sole director of the company, seconded from Alexandre Abel. Free from the latest fashions, Domaine Ponsot has always sought to express the richness of the Burgundy terroir through natural cultivation practices. Human intervention is limited and applied only to the help that the vine needs.

The vineyards are in exceptional condition thanks to the family’s long tradition of letting nature take command of the work
