Description
The Podere Santa Felicita where the Pinot Nero Cuna 2019 is produced by Federico Stederini is located on the hills above Pratovecchio in the province of Arezzo. As the crow flies the company is one hour from Florence, at the foot of the Apennines.
Several decades of work as an agronomist and winemaker consultant, for the best Tuscan companies, have given Federico Staderini all the tools he needed to find this forgotten limestone terroir on the Arezzo hills, known to the Etruscans long before him.
The grapes for the Cuna are harvested by hand from early September to early October. The early harvest is mostly de-stemmed (from 75% to 80%), the fruit harvested later is mostly whole cluster (up to 90%) The fermentation takes place in old oak and concrete vats, and are of the duration of 15-17 days for grapes harvested early, and up to 22-24 days for grapes harvested later.
The wine is then aged for 20 months in Burgundian piéce followed by a year in the bottle before being put on the market
