Description
Verbena Brunello di Montalcino 2018 is one of those reds that suggests why this slice of Tuscany is enjoying so much success. A thoroughbred Sangiovese that appears in the glass with a deep ruby red that veers towards garnet. The nose is a succession of aromas ranging from ripe fruit to leather and spices. In the mouth it is soft and balanced with a nice freshness that keeps the sip in tension. The vineyards available to the Nannetti family, owners of the Verbena farm, are divided into two distant bodies. Those in the northern part of the Montalcino quadrant with north-east exposure characterized by a cooler microclimate and those in the south, in the Castelnuovo dell’Abate area, with south-east exposure which enjoy a decidedly warmer climate.
Verbena wines are born from the skilful blending of the grapes from these two sub-areas of Montalcino.
