Description
Nittardi Casanuova di Nittardi Vigna Doghessa Chianti Classico 2022 is a pure Sangiovese wine that captures the essence of the prestigious Tuscan terroir. Cultivated with dedication in the Vigna Doghessa, this wine rises thanks to its unique position at 450 meters above sea level, with favorable exposure to the south-east, on medium-deep soils enriched by Galestro and Alberese. The ideal environment for a Sangiovese of rare intensity and depth. Every year, Casanuova di Nittardi pays homage to Michelangelo with a special tribute: a unique label and silk paper, created by internationally renowned artists.
The Nittardi estate, on the border between the provinces of Siena and Florence, was originally a defensive tower known as “Nectar Dei”. In the 16th century, the property belonged to Michelangelo, who sent Nittardi wine to Rome as a “true gift to the Pope”. Over the centuries the property changed hands until it was taken over in 1982 by Frankfurt owner and publisher Peter Femfert and his wife Stefania, a Venetian historian. They rebuilt Nittardi step by step and replanted the vineyards. Today Nittardi includes woods, vineyards and olive groves.
