Description
The Chianti Classico Lama della Rinascita 2024 originates from the Sangiovese vineyards of the Il Castellaccio estate, located in Lucolena, within the municipality of Greve in Chianti. This label represents an extreme and terroir-driven interpretation, born from the decision to isolate the expression of the denomination’s North-East slope—an area renowned for its high altitudes and distinctly cool climate.
The wine is the result of the vinification of 100% Sangiovese grapes, aged in a single wooden tonneau to preserve its integrity. The profile of the “Lama della Rinascita” is defined by what is described as a “nervous austerity”: the cold of the high altitude ideally transforms the rocky soil into “liquid transparency,” resulting in a sip that is sharp, vibrant, and remarkably precise.
Under the guidance of Davide Bottai, Il Castellaccio aims to highlight the mountain character of Lucolena through this wine. With a moderate alcohol content (12% vol) and an approach that prioritizes finesse, the wine is smooth and rounded on the palate, yet supported by an acidic and mineral backbone that ensures its verticality.
In the glass, it reveals clear aromas of small red fruits and cherries, enriched by a saline tension that reflects the sandstone and “macigno” soils typical of the area. It is a “wild” yet elegant Chianti Classico, focusing on drinkability and the sincere storytelling of a single high-altitude vineyard.
