TREGOLE Chianti Classico 2023

The Chianti Classico Tregole is a Sangiovese that elegantly interprets the highest and most authentic part of Chianti. With a luminous ruby color, the nose presents intense aromas of ripe cherry, violet, aromatic herbs, and subtle secondary notes of tar and dried flowers. The palate is dynamic yet refined: vibrant acidity, polished tannins, and a savory, persistent finish that invites a second sip. This is an authentic wine, capable of naturally and persuasively combining immediacy and depth.

The peculiarity of this wine lies in its terroir. The vineyards are located at approximately 500–580 meters above sea level, in a unique place called Tregole—a corner of Chianti Classico dotted with three wild gorges surrounding a solitary hill. The soil is an extraordinary mosaic of alberese, galestro, and macigno del Chianti—calcareous, stony soils rich in rock fragments that characterize the best Chianti viticulture. These sedimentary rocks ensure excellent drainage, low fertility, and controlled water stress for the vines. The roots delve deep in search of nutrients, producing small, concentrated bunches rich in minerality. The high elevation, combined with significant diurnal temperature shifts, promotes slow and aromatic ripening, giving the wines tension, freshness, and momentum.

The Fattoria Tregole winery, led by Sophie Conte, is a small family cellar that has chosen to bring the heart of this hill back into the spotlight. The historic site, active since the Middle Ages, is now cultivated using organic methods, ranging from mature vines planted in 1956 to more recent plantings. The company’s philosophy is tied to territorial transparency and silent rigor: clean fermentations in concrete and measured aging that enhance the authentic voice of Sangiovese.
