The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Renieri 2016 is full, generous and ample in aromatic performance. Aromas of red fruit and flowers flood the senses, with black cherry, blackberry jam and seasoned tobacco in the foreground.
Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Renieri ages in large 50-hectolitre barrels, and production is limited: only 6,000 bottles produced. There is a touch of bitter almond, even with smoky or nutty tones. These give the wine a character personality.
Renieri, owned by the Bacci family, covers about 120 hectares, of which 30 are planted with vines. It is located in the southern part of the territory of Montalcino, in the lands overlooking Monte Amiata. The altitude of the vineyards is 400 meters above sea level and the exposure, at almost 360 degrees, goes from east to north-west. Volcanic soils are predominant. Limestone and rock mix with red clays and tuff.
The predominant blend is Sangiovese for Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino.
Renieri produces a small amount of Syrah, bottled in purity. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot are used for IGT wines.
The cellar of over 1000 square meters is underground to facilitate the movement of the grapes by gravity and maintain the optimal temperature necessary for the aging of the wine
